DIRECTIONS TO UBC FROM THE AIRPORT
1. Taking a taxi takes about 15 minutes and costs about $40. It’s a good deal if you can share a ride with two or three others. When you reach UBC via South West Marine Drive, ask the driver to turn right on University Boulevard and then left on Lower Mall. The Vanier Residence (Pacific Spirit Hostel) is on your left.
2. Public Transportation
You can also take public transportation from the airport to UBC. Take the Canada Line Skytrain going to Waterfront. Get off at Oakridge-41st Station Northbound. Transfer to either the #43 UBC or #41 UBC buses. The final stop is the UBC North Bus Loop. Your Vanier Residence (Pacific Spirit Hostel) is only a 15-minute (1km) walk in a westward direction. You can also take the C20 campus shuttle that will take you closer to the residence but it will likely take longer than walking as it runs infrequently.
The price for a 2-zone bus ticket is $4.00 on weekdays before 6:30pm or $2.75 on evenings and weekends. You will also need to pay the Canada Line YVR AddFare ($5.00).* You can buy your ticket from a ticket vending machine at the Airport station using cash, debit or credit. Hold on to the ticket for your bus transfer.

*There is a form of payment that is exempt from the Canada Line YVR AddFare.
Customers who use prepaid fares such as FareSaver tickets are exempt from the Canada Line YVR AddFare. One-zone FareSaver tickets ($21 for a book of 10) can be purchased within the airport at the 7-Eleven and Pharmasave in the Domestic Terminal Arrivals Level 1.
Before 6:30 pm, you must upgrade your one-zone FareSaver ticket to a two-zone ticket at the YVR station. You can use cash, debit card or credit card to pay the upgrade. You will still be considered a prepaid customer and you do not have to pay the $5.00 Canada Line YVR AddFare.
You do not have to pay the Canada Line YVR AddFare to travel to YVR. Regular transit fares apply. The Canada Line YVR AddFare applies only if you are travelling from YVR.
